Omega-3: beyond cholesterol

Rapid advances in the understanding of the biological effects of omega-3 fatty acids and the enormous amount of scientific output on this subject currently in progress make it necessary to focus on what is essential, on what is really scientifically relevant and has a clinical application. We now know that the beneficial effects of omega-3 fatty acids are not limited to only the cardiovascular system and metabolism of cholesterol and triglycerides, but that they also affect the osteoarticular and neurological systems as well as inflammatory and degenerative diseases.
